Husband and wife team's passion
for Italian food leads to the opening of Plymouth's own Italian Delicatessen
Our Mission
To bring to Devon the very best in Italian foods
and ingredients from the south of Italy and Mediterranean.
We choose the only the best of the best –
from the classic food regions of Italy e.g. Sicily, Calabria, Sardinia,
Tuscany, Puglia and Emilia Romagna. We will import direct (where
possible) from the producers themselves.
Our aim is to introduce
you to fine ingredients and little known Italian delicacies such
as Novellame (a type of fish) or Nduja (salami in a jar) to tantalize
your taste buds.
Our Background
Salvo Natale: I am Italian
but not really, in truth I am from the island of Sicily, famous
for volcanoes,
Mafia and lemons! I have lived in England for the last twenty
years but still speak with a strong Italian accent.
II have a profound knowledge of Italian food
in particular from Sicily and Calabria where my father was born.
I love cooking in my free time as well as supporting our local
rugby club.
Liz Natale: am originally from
Bristol, famous for the SS Great Britain, Clifton Suspension Bridge
and Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry.
I have always loved cooking and eating good Italian food especially
the Italian “Cucina” having spent 4 years living in
Rome, travelled extensively throughout Italy, and speak fluent
Italian.
I am very knowledgeable in all things Sicilian
having holidayed there for the last 15 years and in addition, have
learnt most of my cooking ability from my Mother-in-law and the
rest of Salvos extended family !
So why not drop in and enjoy a cup of fresh coffee
and browse around our deli.
